First Campaign

Here is the first campaign I have ever written. I did it for a class with a group. I was the account executive and did most of the writing and logistics of the campaign. Everything is realistic and hopefully it will be completed in the future.

Website for the Newport Fine Arts Program

This is just an image of the entrance of the new website that will not only be user friendly, but will be colorful and playful for students, families and local businesses.

Brochure for "Feel Your Art-Beat"

• What were you trying to accomplish with your design decisions?

I am doing a PR campaign for the Newport Public Schools Fine Arts Program, so I decided to use this project to get ahead on my campaign. I used inDesign to create a brochure that would go in local businesses, be available at school events, parent teacher conferences, as well as being mailed with report cards. 

• What challenges and problems did you encountered and how did you solved them?

I found it challenging to create columns in inDesign, as well as make the brochure entertaining without being overloaded with information. It was hard to balance images and information.

• What was new for you?

Creating a brochure was a whole new thing for me. I didn't realize how difficult it was to make sure there are plenty of images to go with information. Brochures are there to sell something, or help gain popularity so there needs to be a lot of images.

• What did you enjoy most about the project?

I liked being able to incorporate the Fine Arts programs accomplishments while also providing information about the program to parents (future families too!) and the community. Brochures are the perfect way to provide publicity to families, especially if it sent home with their children.

• What are you most proud of in relation to this assignment?

I am most proud that it's very colorful and eye-catching. Parents will look at it, but also students, who are the primary target public for the campaign. They will look for their friends, while also learning about the fine arts program that is available to them. Also, parents can look for their children in the pictures, or find out their child is mentioned in the brochure and they will want to keep it as a memento.

• What were you trying to accomplish with your design decisions?

I am doing a PR campaign for the Newport Public Schools Fine Arts Program, so I decided to use this project to get ahead on my campaign. I am supporting the Rogers High School chorus in this poster with their upcoming concert. I used the school colors and tried to keep it simple but still something that can grab a person's attention.

• What challenges and problems did you encountered and how did you solved them?

I only encountered problems when dealing with Quark. I prefer Illustrator over Quark so it just took time to adjust to find certain things where I thought I would have found them.

• What was new for you?

Quark as a whole program was new. I have always been told to use Illustrator over Quark so I wasn't too excited about learning Quark. Overall, I'm glad to know how to use it but I still prefer Illustrator.

• What did you enjoy most about the project?

I really enjoyed playing with the fonts and how I got to play with them. I originally had a lot of boring fonts but I feel as though when I played with the fonts, the poster came to life. Such as the word "lifetime". It was originally in Times New Roman but then I changed it to Adienne Cursive and it really took the poster in a whole new direction.

• What are you most proud of in relation to this assignment?

I am most proud that it is not another boring flyer for a concert at a high school. Often they do not grab attention, have any images or anything on it, with this poster, people are to look twice at it and read the information on it.

• What could you have done had you had more time?

I think I would see if I could rearrange the text in different spots and maybe find another image to fill the empty space.

Michael Buble

• What were you trying to accomplish with your design decisions?

When I think of Michael Buble in a design state of mind, I think class and suave. I used cursive-like fonts to show suave and class, as well as that Mr. Buble uses cursive for a lot of his fonts on his albums. Also, I used two of his more famous songs with a steady tempo that involves a foot tap, but not rocking out, which lead me to the decision of the simple colors of black, white, and gray. Those three colors are not loud

• What challenges and problems did you encountered and how did you solved them?

I only encountered one problem and it was while I was editing the music. Come to find out I had the wrong format of the song. I brought the song into iTunes and converted it to a MP3 then brought it back to Audacity where I finally was able to successfully the song.

• What was new for you?

I have worked with Powerpoint many times, including using all of the different transitions, rehearsing times, but then again I am certified in Microsoft Office 2003 and that previous experience helped me work with the updated Powerpoint.

• What did you enjoy most about the project?

I enjoyed editing the music. It was fun to play with the song by itself, but then the challenge of combining the two songs together so it wasn't too obvious was my favorite. I have now used Audacity for two other projects that I attached music to my Powerpoints (just like this project).

• What are you most proud of in relation to this assignment?

I am most proud of my music, even though it sounds a little rocky at the end, I feel as though f I had more time I would work on the music more so it would go more smoothly.

• What could you have done had you had more time?

Well as previously stated, I would work on the music to make it go more smoothly, but also I would work on how the music is aligned with slides.
